Title
Decorative architectural element
Description
The item has a hemispheric shape, decorated with nervures, the sides bearing schematically rendered aquatic birds (the head, neck and the upper part of the wings). At the base, the piece has a 2 cm thick margin.
These elements were discovered on the Grădişte Hill (Sarmizegetusa Regia), in the sacred area and close to the fortification (e. g., in the emplecton of the walls). It is presumed they had an ornamental function, probably in some edifices from the sacred area.
