Description
It is a massive piece and the two ends have different profiles: one is circular and the other rectangular. In the area of the oval orifice for attaching the wooden handle, the body of the sledge-hammer is widened and thickened. One of the main deforming tools in the inventory of a blacksmith’s workshop, the sledge-hammer appears often among the artefacts discovered at Sarmizegetusa Regia, illustrating the intense metallurgical activity from two thousand years ago from the capital of the Dacian kingdom.
