Anthropomorphic representation

Title
Anthropomorphic representation
Description
The piece is a representation of a feminine figure, a series of details are perfectly visible: the prominent breasts, the nose, the mouth, the ears, the elaborate hairstyle and part of the outfit. Both arms were bent upwards, possibly in a hieratic position; only the left arm was almost entirely preserved (the hand is missing), while the left one has been torn off even since antiquity. The eyes, under deep arcades were most probably represented with the help of vitreous paste, but they disappeared long ago as well.
The piece was fixed on a support which can be only presumed (wooden, iron, bronze etc) with the help of a small handle with small holes, two placed on the upper side, partially preserved, and another one at the base. Ever since being discovered in 1949 it was assumed that the bronze bust from the Piatra Roşie would represent a deity belonging to the Dacian pantheon. At present, other interpretations are being discussed, such as classifying it as a piece of furniture or/and as a decorative piece.
