Description
The pot belongs to the category of medium and large ewers with edged lips, which were used to store food and liquids. It is decorated with edgings and horizontal incisions parallel on the lip. Some of the incisions, located above the shoulder seem to be made before the burning. It is not certain whether they represent graphical signs. This type of vessel is well represented in the ceramic repertoire of Sarmizegetusa Regia. - Find-spot: Cucuiș – Gruiul Omului, commune of Beriu (Hunedoara county) - Dimensions: D lip: 20 cm; D bottom ring: 16 cm; H: 47 cm - Material: clay, fine paste - Execution technique: wheel-thrown, oxidative firing, engobe |
