Axe Head

Title
Axe Head
Description
This type of axe has a massive square butt, the blade has a rectangular section and a slightly curved cutting edge. Around the socket area the axe’ body thickens in order to secure the handle. Analyses have shown the hardening of the cutting edge by carburisation.
As tools used for a wide range of purposes, from cutting trees to carpentry, axes are very frequent among the findings in Sarmizegetusa Regia: a few dozen were found until nowadays.
