Lid |
|
Description
The lid has the form of a truncated cone with curved walls and a ring like knob. The handle has a central groove and it is attached near the rim and in the knob area. This type of lid, which is typical for the Orăştiei Mountains area can easily be mistaken for a “Dacian cup”. However, some details help in identifying it. In this case, for example, the way the handle is inserted would make the vessel unstable if used as a cup. Find spot: Grădiştea de Munte - Rudele (Hunedoara county) Dimensions: height - 5,5 cm; rim diameter - 12,7 cm. Material: clay, semi-smooth paste containing mica sequins Technique: hand-built, reduction firing |
